He talks dirty to me, but I don’t know his name.

He wants to tie me up, but I don’t know his face.

He turns me on, but I couldn’t point him out in a crowd.

I’ve fallen for an anonymous stranger, and now the anonymity ends. I want more than typed secrets and texted promises. I want something reckless. Heat. Passion. The thrill of being entirely possessed.

Because I suspect this anonymous stranger isn’t a stranger at all.

Lizzy Thompson met riverrat69 online through a service promising to deliver meaningful relationships by forbidding its users to share names or photos until they’ve reached a certain benchmark. She was looking for love. He was researching an investment. They hit it off. Talked and flirted, hid behind screen names and cartoon avatars.

Now they’re breaking the rules and meeting in person. But Liz is prepared. She’s picked up hints and followed clues. She’s nearly convinced she’s discovered the identity of her dirty-talking online friend.

She wonders if her ex-lover Sam Bradshaw knows her identity too.
When she rolls the dice on one reckless night, her chance at something real could crumble.

Something Reckless is part one of the Reckless & Real series. Part two, Something Real will be released in 2015.

“You need a good guy. A long-term guy. One who does dates and romance and emotional strings…I’m just an asshole who wants to tie you up, make you come, and walk away.”

Samuel Bradshaw is a man with a reputation—the kind of reputation that should have me running the other way. Instead, it has me searching for the shortest distance to his bed. I won’t be the starry-eyed girl who thinks she can change a man like Sam, and despite what he thinks, forever is not what I need. I need the things he makes me feel, the way he turns me on, and the promise of pleasure in his eyes. I need SOMETHING WILD.

I definitely recommend starting with Something Wild.  It gives an exciting set up to how Sam and Lizzy's relationship and relationship problems started.  It's a quick, sexy read. Don't skip it!

Something Reckless is written with Ryan's signature style.  She delivers such relatable characters.  They all have some insecurity that is easy to understand.

For Lizzy, it's a confidence issue.  It's not that she has low self esteem, or a flawed view of who she is, it's more of a wonder as to why she hasn't found that something special kind of love.  She's surrounded by great "love of your life" relationships but being turned away a time or two by the one guy that has always haunted her heart, has made her believe that men just don't see her as THAT woman.  The woman you risk it all for, the one you chose above everything else, the woman you do anything to spend the rest of your life with.

Sam's life is ruled by family ties, there is constant cloud of living up to expectations, marrying for connections rather than love, portraying the right image at all times.  He doesn't do relationships, he doesn't do strings.  But Lizzy has him wondering if he ever could.

I loved the idea of these two reconnecting via an anonymous dating site.  The messages back and forth were equally entertaining and hot.  Lizzy believing that it's Sam from the start makes it even hotter.

But nothing Lexi Ryan does is quite what it seems.  Though I figured out the twist pretty early on, it didn't deflate the read at all.

I loved the back and forth, hot and cold relationship she builds between Sam and Lizzy.  I loved that there were outside forces that played such a part in their relationship.  It's quite a bit of drama, but it was drama with purpose.

As I said, Ryan has a signature style.  She intertwines all her New Hope characters so well that you are instantly invested in all their lives.  This makes it so easy to feel the same emotions they feel.  You can feel the love, the heartache, the guilt, the shame, the anger.  Leaving you hoping, in the end, they work it all out.

They don't however, not quite. They get on the right path and then someone pulls it all out from under them. The last word left me reeling for Lizzy.  Finally, the love that she's always desired, the career she loves and the hopes of a future she never dreamed of are in her reach...only to possibly be snatched away by one selfishly awful act.  I wanted to cry for her.

But that's a good thing right? It is. Because now I will be anxiously awaiting the conclusion in Something Real.
