Review: Priceless by Raine Miller

Series: Rothvale Legacy #1
Release Date: September 10, 2014
Publisher: Raine Miller Romance
Source: Purchased
Rating: ★★★ ½

Ivan Everley, 13th Baron Rothvale, will tell you himself he's the LAST person on earth who should have custody over a priceless collection of art, but since when does the irony of life ever fall in line with what somebody wants? Ivan might be a Lord according to British law, but he's just a regular guy with an appetite for speed...and women...and some dominating kink in the bedroom. Yeah, just a regular guy who happens have Olympic gold medals stashed away in his house. Riiiight. His public profile is merely a sham--his private life a carefully guarded secret borne out of the pain of betrayal. Even his famous cousin, Ethan Blackstone, doesn't know the whole story about the man he considers a brother.

Lord Ivan has a plethora of problems piled up to his aristocratic eyeballs--that only get more complicated when a beautiful art conservationist shows up to appraise his inherited collection of paintings--but that doesn't stop him from digging himself in deeper. Nope, not a bit. Once Ivan gets a taste of Gabrielle Hargreave, mistaken identity or not, he can't think of anything else but how perfect she felt in his arms the night he first laid his eyes on her.

He wants her, and what Ivan wants, Ivan gets. He is Lord Ivan after all. Gabrielle soon discovers that the Dom in him isn't taking 'no' for an answer. But, yet, Gabrielle Hargreave might just teach our discontent lord a thing or two about life, and about himself, and help them both discover the undeniable truth in what it means to find something genuinely...priceless.

Can we just take a quick second to pause and admire this cover. It's really quite pretty and still intriguing and sexy WITHOUT a half naked man on the cover! Not that I mind half naked men, but you know...we can have hot covers without them too and this cover proves it.

I will admit that before reading Priceless, I was a Raine Miller virgin.  I've had the Blackstone affair books on my radar for ever now but they just hadn't made it to the top of the list.  When the cover for Priceless started being shown around I decided it was time for my vagina to finally meet a Raine Miller book boy.

We learn early on that Ivan is a manwhore who pays for his companions.  Not out of necessity, he can get women all on his own, but a public figure like him sometimes just wants complication free sexy times.  Hiring through an escort service fills his need to have eye candy on his arm and kink in his bed.

But a case of mistaken identity, instant lustful attraction and a hint of submissive behavior has him all wrapped up in one complicated situation.

A complicated situation by the name of Gabrielle Hargreave.  Gabrielle is not a whore.  She's not an escort.  She's a woman much closer to Ivan's world than either of them realize and he can't get her out of his head.  However, mistaking a woman for a prostitute isn't the best way to get her in your bed.

My vagina really liked Ivan.  My brain didn't always like him, but my vagina told my brain to shut the hell up.  Ivan is a Dom who tones that side of himself down dramatically, in an attempt to woo the object of his desire. He's like a spider in a web but I have a feeling once his prey is in his sticky net, she's going to give him quite a run for his money.

I say "have a feeling" because Priceless is more of the pre-cursor to this relationship.  It's more foreplay, more set up, more history.  According to Goodreads this is a 300 page read, Amazon has it listed as 260...my thought is that those both lie.  It was a quick, short read.  Or, at least if felt that way. There just wasn't a lot of story there.  Which makes this a hard review to write.  There just isn't much to talk about.

Though, the characters, especially Ivan, have my vagina queuing up for another round of Rothvale.  I'll definitely be back to see what happens next but will be hoping for a bigger bite of the story.
